Original Programming from Memphis Public Libraries
Since 2024, Chad Allen Barton has worked as a Producer at The Library Channel at Memphis Public Libraries, producing original programming ranging from children's shows and live music performances to documentaries about Memphis organizations, people, and communities.
His work at The Library Channel includes several original series he created as well as Memphis Makers, the channel's documentary series highlighting local nonprofits and community organizations.
STORYTIME
StoryTime is an original children's series created by Chad Allen Barton for The Library Channel.
The show follows Kevin, a Floppy from Floppyland who accidentally falls through a portal and winds up in Memphis. He eventually finds his way to the Memphis Public Library, where he discovers books for the first time.
Kevin builds the Imagination Room, a place where the illustrations in books can come to life around him. Local children's authors visit Kevin to read their stories and join him on adventures inspired by the books.
A Few of My Favorite Things
A Few of My Favorite Things is a long-form documentary series created by Chad Allen Barton that explores interesting people, places, communities, and cultural subjects around Memphis.
Each installment runs roughly 45 minutes, allowing the documentaries to spend substantial time with their subjects.
The series has featured Edge Motor Museum and Memphis Armored Fight Club, documenting the people, history, and communities surrounding each subject.
Memphis Makers
Memphis Makers is a documentary series highlighting nonprofit and community organizations throughout Memphis.
Each episode spends time with an organization to explore its mission, meet the people involved, and give viewers a closer look at the work it does in the community.
Episodes have featured Memphis Music Initiative, Memphis Union Mission, MIFA and Community Legal Center.
